For over 30 years I have donated more than 200 times to help someone in need of blood products.
Well, on April 29, 2009, and for the next 2 and a half months, I experienced first hand what it feels like to count on the generosity of over 50 individual complete strangers. I was rushed to the hospital with a bacterial infection called Necrotising Fasciitis. I had 6 operations on my left leg to remove the dead tissue. During these operations I received 3 units of albumin, 23 units of plasma, 3 units of platelets and 23 units of whole blood.
Without your generous contributions I would not have survived. I thank you one and all for taking the time to make a difference in my life.
