I had never considered donating blood, not because I didnt think it was a good thing to do. It just never made it onto my to do list.
August 25, 2019 my life was flipped upside down. I was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia. All of the sudden I find myself being the recipient or other peoples kindness.
As I write this, I am recieving a transfusion of blood (one of many so far, and more transfusions of blood and platelets to come), and just found out that a 10/10 match for my stem cell transplant was found. Without people who thought to donate and register, I would not have a chance at a second lease on life. Words can't describe the gratefulness to those who donate blood, platelets and register for stem cell donation, without them my fight would be over before it began.
