I first started donating blood when I turned Seventeen. It was about a week after my 17th birthday and I went with my Dad. I didn't even know what kind of blood I had, and I was excited to find out. I later learned that I have O negative blood, the universal donor. I have donated almost every 56 days since then, and have now donated 18 times in the past three years. I enjoy doing my part and I feel a sense of pride and purpose when I donate. When I go to the donor centre I notice there are not as many other young people that donate. I encourage my friends and family to donate whenever they can and, whatever they can. I enjoy donating blood and I intend to donate for the rest of my life.
My Thoughts as a Young Blood Donor
