My Mom was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myleoid Leukeamia) in Aug 2016.
It was a long hard challenging battle as many can empathize with. She received quite a few units of blood and platelets. Her blood type was A+. I never realized how important blood donors were until I took this journey with my Mom. My Mom was fortunate enough to qualify for a clinical trial and was in remission for about 2 years but unfortunately the AML returned and getting back into a clinical trial was not as easy the second time. We just lost her recently. She was 77, but I will never forget how important her blood donors were. They are the unsung heroes.
