For my entire childhood I remember my dad going to donate blood all the time. When I got old enough, we went together. My father had donated over a hundred times. Unfortunately years down the road he got sick. Myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood and bone marrow cancer. He needed transfusions twice, sometimes three times a week, as well as a bone marrow transplant. Without the help of all of you donors, he would not have been able to live as long as he did. Turns out everything he gave was given back to him ten fold. Now I donate in his memory.
