When I was a first-year university student 53 years ago, I was a "pool shark." Every day after class I went to an on-campus pool hall. One day it was turned into a blood donor clinic and I couldn't shoot pool. As a student I had no money and little time to be a volunteer, but I could be a blood donor. After about 50 years of giving whole blood, plasma or platelets, I was told I might have to stop because of my thick-walled veins. So I became a hospitality and booth (recruitment, what's your type, info) volunteer. I'm still giving whole blood too. What better cause is there?
