Inspired by my mom

When I was very small, my mom used to take me along to her donation appointments to show me that there was nothing to be scared of, even though I was frightened of blood and getting a needle at the doctor's. After donating regularly for decades, she needed to stop because she received a cancer diagnosis just months before the pandemic started. My mom and I share the same blood type, and I know it meant a great deal to her to be able to contribute, especially in this time of great need, so I found the courage to make a donation myself. Now that I already have three donations under my belt, I feel really confident about continuing to give, and I know my mom is proud of me for facing my fear, and I am proud of her.
